Wednesday, July 12th , at the Abel’s Wine Bar, located on Nicolae Tonitza Street, no. 10, an Alira wine tasting was held. An event where guests could enjoy four wines throughout the evening, alongside the stories, and the cordial presence of the hosts, Claudio Calculli and Paolo Zigilani.
The evening started with Alira Sauvignon 2016, the second vintage of white wine from our portfolio, which proved to be the perfect label to start with. The freshness, mineral notes, light body, and the explosion of aromas of gooseberries, white grapefruit, lemon peel and green bell pepper were the elements that made Sauvignon Blanc the perfect wine for the summer weather.
Later, the public were able to enjoy Alira Rosé 2016, a fresh, aromatic wine with a pale salmon color. A wine made in the Provence style, the rosé impressed everyone with its aromas of rose petals, strawberries, peaches, raspberries, mangoes and orange peels. And the impression was so strong that it was considered unanimously, but discreetly, the wine of the evening.
After the rosé, the audience was surprised by the second part of the tasting, which consisted of two red wines. The first was Alira Tribun 2013, a fruity red wine with medium body and very soft tannins. And its aromas of sour cherries, cranberry and white pepper, along with its acidity and serving at a temperature of 15-16° C, have shown it to be a very good wine at the end of a warm summer day.
The last wine of the evening was the new Alira Concordia from the 2013 vintage. Made from Fetească Neagră and Merlot, the red wine is well-balanced, with round tannins, medium body and well-shaped aromas of cherries, raspberries, cherries, and blackberries. Complex, but mellow, Alira Concordia was the wine that was very well paired with food from Abel’s Wine Bar menu.
And this was also the perfect wine to end the evening in the glasses clinkers, interesting discussions, and the promise to organize soon a new tasting.
